Show and Tell

My show and tell this week is a little silly. I am letting you in on one of my minor addictions.

I am showing y’all my favorite NASCAR driver. I bet y’all did not know that I am a NASCAR fan. (Despite the fact I was born and raised in Northern Virginia.) Hubby and I followed NASCAR for years, and we always rooted for Jeff Burton.

We started watching NASCAR when we lived in Mississippi because we were homesick for Virginia. Several of the races are in Virginia. We wanted to choose a Virginia driver. (Did I mention we were homesick.) Jeff Burton is from South Boston, Virginia. Perfect. And I he was doing all right in the points that year (1994). This year, Jeff Burton is kicking ass, at least in the points standings. He could really use another win, but so could everyone else. Jeff B. does well at Dover, so he could get a win this week.

What is really fun about it now is that my parents are into it. They read St Dale by Sharyn McCrumb, and they have been hooked ever since. We even took them to a race at Martinsville. Martinsville is our favorite track, so it was a great day.

that certainly sounds like a minor addiction to me!!! I am not into stuff like that but can see how it would be fun to cheer on your favourite driver!!

My Hubby is a huge NASCAR fan and it makes me laught because, at times, it is almost like a soap opera for boys!

I do have to admit, the first time you go to a race and ~feel~ the cars go around the track is really, really cool!

I am a huge NASCAR fan, too (my last NASCAR post was Feb 2008). I joined the crazy ranks of fans in 1993 when Ricky Craven made it to the Busch series (and on TV). I picked him as my Dad was a fan and we are from Maine, same as Ricky. We now cheer for the Missouri drivers that my DH picked over 7 years ago, first Jamie McMurray and then Carl Edwards. We went to a race at Martinsville too. Have to love it, almost as much as football!

Oops, was going to add this... Also, at an Atlanta NASCAR race we had dinner at the same table as Jeff's brother, Ward. He was a pleasure to talk to.
We are proud of Jeff as he had been under appreciated until he got the ride he has now.

My DH is a NASCAR addict! His faves are Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. To keep from going crazy early in our marriage, I decided to choose a driver to cheer for (rather than trying to ignore 5 hours of racing every Sunday). SO ... now I love Bobby Labonte. And our 6yr old is a fan of Dale Jr. I don't really watch the races on tv, but I have to admit that partying at Martinsville for an entire weekend (plus, of course, the fun of the actual race) is a blast!

Just about the only sport I don't watch (well, and hockey) with hubby. Sometimes addictions are good :)

I think it would be really cool to experience a race. I know nothing about NASCAR but it's on my list of things to do before... well before the end... =)

Never been into NASCAR, but it is great that you and Hubby have a hobby that you can share. It's also great that your family is getting into it too. Thanks for the book recommendation. Will check it out.

I have a friend at home that L.O.V.E.S. Nascar. I couldn't get into it like she did. I love cars--fast ones even, but can't get into Nascar. I think she likes your guy, too! :)

Thanks for stopping by!

SIL-1 is a huge NASCAR fan. I've watched a few races with her and I admit that I don't get it. But I think if I had an actual favorite driver to root for, I'd probably like it more!

Hey via NCLM!
How was the weekend without your husband?
NASCAR is HUGE where we live. People live for it. Our only interest in it is that it started from bootleggers :-)

I so DO NOT get Nascar. All I can see is the waste of gasoline. Gasoline for the race, gas for all the people to get to the race... it just makes me NUTS. But if you like it... well than enjoy!
